今年春天一个晚上,我的好朋友,来自法国的混蛋音乐家L~N半夜跑来找我,说有个菲律宾朋友来中国巡演,刚下飞机,一定要一起喝一杯。我们等到午夜,见面,相谈甚欢,一直到天色泛白。第二天,我们一起去了他的演出现场。

我觉得有些共振是超越制造它工具和具象机体之外的,而在这背后的人性可能就是神性,是万物共有却又难以意识到的。


我记住了他的名字—Caliph-8,并邀请他再次来华演出。

七月五日,Caliph-8,L~N,Atelier II,iimmune和Dee,邀请你来乐空间。这不一定是一场好听的演出,但我们希望是,就像生活一样。

Caliph8 aka Akilraham Sleuth is a sound and visual artist.


He explores the implication of merging, summing and hybridization, creating a new cultural syntax out of the debris of the already-given.


He delves into composition and sound exploration, where he deploys sheets of polyrhythmic beats, one-note samples and deconstructed audio cut and paste sound sequences, creating an aural continuity between the sampled musician and the synthesist. He explores sample- based synthesis and granular synthesis as part of his creative methods in composing and manipulating sound.


His influences span from true school hip-hop, experimental, folk, no wave, noise, sound art and ethnomusicology among others. He combines all of these elements and creates a hybrid permutation of gut wrenching aural blast, creating an open-ended tension.


For the past 22 years, he has been active in Manila and overseas, primarily involved with the local visual and sound art and platforms.


He also founded the sound platform Subflex (2003 to present) where he curates the shows featuring a plethora of diverse unpopular sound performances ranging from traditional, new music to experimental and noise.


In 2015 he released a vinyl version of his album called “Stillborn Etudes on Dub Temple Records (Brisbane), a cassette tape called “Derelict Features of the Domain” on SVBKVLT (Shanghai) label in 2013 and a CD release “Realized Patterns & Splintered Sequences” from O-Rich (Tokyo) 2015, and a cassette release for NINE IRON label in Manila called “Vertical Stack”.

He has collaborated with Raed Yassin, Asa Chang, Otomo Yoshihide, Keiji Heino, DJ Sniff, Yuen Chee Wai, Sin:Ned, Nonplus, Malek Lopez, Fumitake Tamura, LON, Artyom Kim, Lou Chao Yun, Hamacide, 



Caliph8原名 Akilraham Sleuth,是来自菲律宾马尼拉的视听觉艺术家。

他基于现实碎片之上,探索融合,合并,拼接之间的联系,并创造新的文化结构。

他深入研究作曲和声音探索,他将电子节拍、采样和重组的声音片段接合排序,介于采样音乐和合成器之间创造一种听觉持续性。他将采样合成和颗粒合成作为主要的创作手法。

他和纯正的说唱乐,实验音乐,民谣,无浪潮,噪音,声音艺术和民族音乐互相影响。他将这些元素杂交组合,创造听觉上的震撼和开放式的结局。

盛迪,声音艺术家,制作人,迷幻即兴乐团汨Mii主创,如何娛樂主理。

迷恋声音,关注声音本身的塑造,使用乐器,电流,身体等多种媒介发声,营造变幻莫测的超现实迷噪场景。


作为声音设计师参与北京国际设计周,上海时装周。配乐王一通导演电影《杀猪匠》获平遥国际电影节评委会奖。现场配音浸入式戏剧《道林格雷的狂想》。合作过的艺术家有Torturing Nurse, Stuart Grant, JS Aurelius, *LLND, ..., UMU, 大友良英,长谷川洋等。

Dee is a sound artist and music producer based in Shanghai, founder of 汨Mii, organizer of Ruhe Entertainment.

Dee focus in sound itself instead of rhythem and music. He uses various instruments and objects to make and sculpture the sound to build surreal psychedelic and noisy scenes.

Dee and his productions participated in events such as Beijing Design Week, Shanghai Fashion Week, Just Passing By series Exhibition, Raying tours, Utopia Action, etc. Dee had first personal interactive sound performance exhibition at fRUITYSPACE Beijing 2015, and released his first EP and noise toured around China and Tokyo on 2016. 

Dee is also co-organizer of Recharge, NONSENSE and NoiShanghai.

L~N



L~N,他的即兴表演包括日常声音、原声乐器、独白和数码合成器等。其音乐摇摆在周遭环境、抽象文字、噪音的声音景观以及复合节奏等各种元素之间。

L~N composes improvised evolving sets from found sounds, acoustic instruments, analog and digital synthesizers. His music oscillates from ambient, abstract textures to noise soundscapes and polyrhythmic beats.

iimmune

1989年出生于甘肃天水, 现居北京, 电子音乐人、制作人、乐手。

 

2015年在“大福唱片”发行了首张全长专辑《Ocean》, 2016年发行数字EP《Abnormal》,2017年1月21日在“夷希Prajnasonic”发行EP《The Passengers》, 2018年发行数字EP《R0008313》,曾出演包括BEME北京室内电⼦⾳乐节、成都NU Art艺术节、上海混凝草⾳乐节在内的众多⾳乐现场,也参与⼀些话剧和独⽴电影的配乐⼯作。

 

2016年与电子音乐人PUNX以及多媒体艺术家VU、FAR INFINITY创办电子音乐厂牌“夷希PRAJNASONIC”。

 

Hsing Jiangbo,aka iimmune, born in Tianshui, GansuProvince in 1989, currently living in Beijing. Electronic music producer andguitarist.

 

His debut Album “Ocean” was released in 2015, and his EP“Abnormal” released in 2016 by D-FORCE Records. His works have been presentedby many well-known independent music livehouses in China, and at festivals suchas the 2013-2015 editions of the Beijing Electronic Music Encounter. He is alsoa composer and a sound designer for film soundtracks and modern theatricaldramas.

 

In 2016, iimmune co-founded the new electronic musiclabel PRAJNASONIC with Beijing-based electronic musician PUNX and multi mediaartists VU and FAR INFINITY.

我们的创作,试图探讨这样一种悖论:一种存在于自然界之外,又绝望地置身其中的矛盾状态。自古而今, 人类深明生命的规律,但无力突破其局限的悲剧,由此生成各种式样的有趣体系 -- 文化、社会、信仰、价值观、哲学和生活方式 -- 从粗暴愚昧至荒唐可笑,可谓无奇不有。作为对自身困境独具清醒意识的个体,我们相信以艺术的手段来对时间、空间、偶然性、虚无、生物生命、衰退和死亡进行存在主义的探究,不仅合理且诱人。令我们着迷的正是那些为使我们能够继续生活下去而时常被歪曲、被包裹在虚无的幻象之中,最后又被虚掷的事物。那些无标准答案的终极问题(如死亡),或由于我们自身认知局限而无法完全用科学或理性的方式领会的事物,则是我们作品的主题。


We are interested in addressing the paradox of being out of the nature and at the same time hopelessly in it. The artistic approach to the existential investigations on time, space, contingency, nothingness, biological life, decay and death, is a legit and seductive approach from our position of condemned conscious beings. The things that are most of the time distorted, wrapped in futile illusions and tossed away in order for us to go on with our daily lives intrigue us. The things that are ambiguous, that cannot be totally grasped in a scientific and rational way because they are painfully inconvenient (like death) or because of our intellectual limitations, are the subjects of our works.
